From the Investiture of a Chevalier

The Degree of Chevalier is the highest honor that can be granted to an Active DeMolay. It may also be conferred upon a Senior DeMolay. The recipient must be nominated without his knowledge, and the honor cannot be applied for. A nominee must be at least 17 years of age, and must have been a member of DeMolay for at least 2 years. All nominations must be approved by a unanimous vote of DeMolay International.
