Here's the newest Brotherhood Evolved story, for which Friendship-Bray
Chapter is claiming seven new members!
Jamie Segeren was a Master Councilor with a lot of
good ideas... some a little crazy, some a little strange, some going
out on a limb... but his drive and ambition as his Chapter's leader
has proven successful.
A few weeks before the end of his term, he wanted to have one last
"hurrah" night out with the members of Friendship-Bray
Chapter, for three reasons - - First, to host a final prospect event
(as there were a few prospects who have not yet signed up),
secondly, to wish incoming Master Councilor Michael Hunt good luck
in his term, and lastly, a fun time out the night before he went
out of office.
Here's where the "going out on a limb part" comes in -
- he went to his Chapter Advisor and asked if he could solicit his
Masonic Sponsors to fund this night out. "Sure, Jamie, it couldn't
hurt... but don't get your hopes up on this one," replied "Dad"
Freedman. Sure enough, as luck would have it, one Masonic Sponsor
- - one that is consistent with commitment and dedication to DeMolay
- - St. Alban Lodge No. 529, came through and funded
the event with flying colors! (This Lodge is also the benefactor
of the Honor Roll Challenge annually.)
The night was Saturday, May 20th, and FBC headed out to Dave
& Buster's Fun Center in Philadelphia. Several of the
Chapter members attended, along with some prospects. They had a
great time playing video games, pinball, "shoot 'em up"
games, skeeball, etc, etc, etc. By having such a good time, this
pushed our new prospects over the edge, and ....
Friendship-Bray Chapter initiated SEVEN new young men the following
day. FBC welcomes new Brothers Bryan Beebee, Alexis Dinerstein,
Julien Dinerstein, Matt Libkind, Sean Mahon, Brian Moore, and Jimmy
Robinson. The new members were honored to be obligated by
our very own State Master Councilor, Bro. Alex Fizz.
Also on Sunday, May 21, 2006, Friendship-Bray Chapter held their
158th Installation of Officers, with 75 family members,
friends, Masonic and DeMolay dignitaries, and other Brothers and
Advisors from DeMolay Chapters there to show their support.
Alex Swift, SMC's Assistant was Installing Officer,
Joe Pullin, SJC, Sam Riddell, NE's
MC, Justin Dunmire, DSMC, Jamie Segeren,
FBC's PMC, and Alex Fizz, SMC rounded out the Installing
Team.
Michael A. Hunt was installed as the 158th Master
Councilor. Bros. Michael Weideman and Kevin
Malseed were installed as Senior and Junior Councilors respectively.
As a conclusion to his term, Bro. Jamie M. Segeren,
PMC addressed the audience with a recap of his term and some thank-you's,
then proceeded to turn over the Master Councilor's lapel pin to
the new Master Councilor. Bro. Alex Fizz, State Master
Councilor for PA DeMolay conferred the Representative
DeMolay Award on our new Master Councilor, Bro. Michael
A. Hunt.
Bro. Hunt presented the "Hats Off" Award to Brothers
Jamie Segeren, Jabbar Bennett, "Mom"
Susan T. Hunt, and "Dads" Rick Freedman,
Al Spina and Fred Wichterman for their
contributions to the Chapter.
Most of the members were awarded Merit Bars for outstanding achievement.
Bro. Hunt was named "Outstanding DeMolay of the
Term." Bro. Jabbar Bennett was named MVP of the
2006 Volleyball Team, and Bro. Terrell Gravely was
named MVP of the 2006 Basketball Team.
As a special treat, we were honored to welcome our International
Master Councilor, Bro. Steve Ashman, and addressed
all those in attendance with encouraging words of wisdom.
It was a great day, filled with many happy memories for all those
involved with the Chapter, as well as for the guests in attendance.
Go, go, go..... FBC!
