On June 3, 2006, the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania
hosted its third Mini Grand Prix event. 11 teams participated in
the competition, including the famous PA DeMolay Number 9 car! The
number, of course, honors Lodge 9 of Philadelphia
for their generous sponsorship of our registration fee and necessary
body work and repairs. Without these generous Masons, we'd be pushing
the car around the track!
Members of the PA DeMolay State Officer Corps sped onto the track,
headed by driver Stephen Logan and Christopher
Setnar (both of the local Elizabethtown Chapter) and including
a crack pit team and support staff for an amazing placement of 4th
place against some very stiff competition. Of course, we had some
great support from honorary team member "Dad" Ron
Aungst, Right Worshipful Grand Master, and from our brand
new Jacques DeMolay mascot. Our own "Dad" Samuel
C. Williamson drove our parade lap.
Team PA DeMolay provided some excitement during the event, with
a little rolling, but driver Chris Setnar hauled his car right back
on the track and got back to green flag racing.
Despite all of the competition, DeMolay, Freemasonry, and friends
of the fraternity came together for the race's overall theme - charity.
All proceeds of the event were to benefit the programs of the Masonic
Children's Home at Elizabethtown. We thank all those who
competed for their sportsmanship and support.
We hope to see you at the next Grand Prix, but until then keep
the throttle open on your charity events!
