A "Grand" Parents' Day

On Sunday, June 3rd, R.W. Grand Master Ronald A. Aungst, Sr., joined the members, parents and advisors of Elizabethtown Chapter as they gathered for their annual Parents' Day Dinner. The dinner was prepared and served by the young men as a way of saying "thank you" for all the love and care that the Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles provide to the young men on a daily basis. The Obligatory Day recognizes the importance of the first precept of the DeMolay: Filial Love - the Love Between Parent and Child.

The dinner was followed by a special program devoted to parents. Following a welcome from Master Councilor Michael Brown and a salute to parents by Matthew Eberts, Chairman of the Parents' Day Dinner Committee, the Grand Master spoke passionately to the group about the importance of the love that parents have for their children.

Following the Grand Master's remarks, all the DeMolays were assembled at the altar for Shawn Vulatic, PMC, to offer the "Flower Talk."

The program ended with "make your own" sundaes for dessert in the Masonic Temple Dining Room.

The event was planned and prepared by a committee of DeMolays including Matt Eberts, David Latimore, Billy Murtley and Wyatt Smeltzer. The three Councilors of the Chapter also provided help and guidance to the project: Master Councilor Michael Brown, Senior Councilor Jeremy Wilt and Junior Councilor Kyle Cleis. Nearly seventy people attended this special meal and program.
