On Tuesday, August 1, Pilgrim Chapter
joined Kelly Brandt from Bethel 19 and
several brothers from Perseverance Lodge, Steelton Swatara Lodge
and Mechanicsburg Lodge worked another CHIP event
at Steelton's National Night Out. The event was a
great success. Over 110 children were processed in less than 2 hours.
The temperature in the fire hall garage bay was at least 90 degrees
with equal humidity. Yet parents and children stood in line without
a complaint waiting to get "CHIPped."
One parent commented that she probably would have stayed home that
night because of the heat - but she thought that this was something
that she needed to protect her child.
Compliments came from every person involved in planning the National
Night Out at the Steelton Fire hall including the Mayor.
The CHIP program has become a way for DeMolay, Jobies and Masons
in the Harrisburg area to work together to do something important
for the community.
