On January 9th, 2007, the Christiana Lions Club hosted Freedom Chapter for dinner at the Lions Club Community Building in Christiana, PA. "Its our way of saying thanks to the DeMolay for helping us with several projects in the community.", said Jim Groff of the Chrisitiana Lions Club. He went on to say, "Over the past year I have watched this group grow and become an asset to the community. This is a bunch of fine young men." Jim further explained that DeMolay helped out at the annual Christiana Soap Box Derby, Christiana Community Worship Service, and more recently at the Christiana Christmas Candlight Sale. Robert Walkling, M.C., stated, "Our members enjoy working with the Lions Club. They conduct interesting, fun events and allow us to participate. We have a common interest in serving the community." As part of the evenings festivities, P.M.C. Kris Walkling performed the "Ceremony of Light" for the Lions. "Dad" Walkling explained the DeMolay Merit Bar awards program. Brother Matt Gagnon stood and explained why he likes membership in DeMolay and the importance of brotherhood the fraternity provides him. Chapter Sweetheart Jen Walkling explained her role in fundraising and participation in chapter committees. Lions Club President Elect Louis Bond was suprised when M.C. Robert Walkling presented him with a customized clock with the "Lions Club Logo" in the clockface.
