Lycoming Chapter Institution

February in Williamsport is normally cold and blustery, but a warm welcome waited for those of the Pennsylvania DeMolay family that traveled to Williamsport for the Institution of Lycoming Chapter!  From the induction of the first class of new members on April 29, 2007 to participation in various PA DeMolay activities, including the Key Man Conference and Grand Master’s Class, to the February 17, 2008 formal Institution, it’s been a whirlwind ten months for the members and advisors of Lycoming Chapter.

The Institution Ceremonies were presided over by Deputy State Master Councilor Jeffrey Bortz and Executive Officer “Dad” Thomas Labagh as the Letters Temporary was presented to the officers and advisors of Lycoming Chapter.  “Dad” Randy Knapp, Deputy Executive Officer for Lycoming Chapter, installed the Advisory Council.  Jeff Bortz and an Installing Team made up of State Officers installed Master Councilor Nick Hufnagle and the first corps of officers.

Several DeMolay Chapters also attended the Institution, and the officers of Pilgrim Chapter presented the DeMolay International 50 year pin, certificate and special commemorative mug to “Dad” Frederick Ripka, Pilgrim Senior DeMolay and an Advisor for Lycoming Chapter.

A number of special guests attended the Institution, including “Dad” Kenneth McClintock, District Deputy Grand Master of the 18th Masonic District; Donald B. Bergerstock, Commander-In-Chief of the Valley of Williamsport, AASR; Bryan Berry, Right Eminent Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar in Pennsylvania and Past Grand Commanders Harold Hardy and David Smeltz.  Members of Baldwin II Commandery No. 22 of Williamsport provided an honor guard for the officers of the Chapter and distinguished guests.
