Meet Dan Fournier,
of Worcester, PA. Dan is 15, and has only been a DeMolay for 4 months.
Dan is a Sophomore at Methacton High School, and when he's not at
DeMolay, he enjoys talking on the phone, going to the mall, and
surfing the net. Dan's a fan of Lego's (but who isn't?).
Dan joined DeMolay
because one of his friends told him about it, and he says he wanted
to "find out for myself." Ever the cooperative young man,
he offers that he also joined "to better myself" since
"that's what you want to hear" --gee, thanks Dan! Meanwhile,
he enjoys DeMolay sports competitions and hanging out with his own
Chapter and others.
Dan
hopes to study social science, and to find a girlfriend (Sorry,
ladies, we can't give you his email here!)
He's a wily
one, and tough to get a serious picture of... we snagged the shots
above at PA DeMolay's recent B-Ball Tourney, and even though he
was on crutches (took one for the team in their first game), he
managed to elude us for any good candids. He liked the dark picture,
because it makes him look all mysterious and brooding, befitting
a poet, which, by the way, he is. It didn't take too much arm twisting
to get him to lend us a poem. This poem has actually been published
(quite a little accomplishment by age 15!), and we reprint it here
with Dan's permission:

Lazy
Day
I sit
here atop a hillside
Amidst the fields of tall grass and wild flowers,
Thinking, pondering, wondering
About the past, the present, and the future,
Coming to conclusions that I know are not true
But yet still mystified by the thought of it all.
Still sitting and watching the tall grass sway,
Like waves of an ocean light brown,
And seeing the shadows of the mighty clouds
As they move across the expanse of fields.
And as everything moves by and blurs into one,
My eyes droop shut, and I drift,
Drift into my own world,
A world that shifts and molds to how I like,
Whether it be in the past or future or a world all my own,
I lose grip of consciousness, and fall asleep.
