Meet John
Tracy of Elizabethtown, PA. A Junior at Etown High School,
"Johnny T" is also the current Treasurer of Elizabethtown
Chapter, an office he's held for several years now. At four
and a half years of DeMolay membership, John is one of PA
DeMolay's real veterans.
With regard
to his DeMolay accomplishments, one could basically say John
has "been there, done that." He's a graduate of
PA DeMolay's Key
Man Conference, the PA Youth Foundation's LifeSkills
Conference, and a multiple-year attendee at Convention
and various other PA DeMolay functions (wow,
are there a lot of shameless plugs in that paragraph!).
After four and a half years, he's still an active and vital
part of Elizabethtown Chapter's programs, frequently chairing
and organizing Chapter events.
Interestingly,
DeMolay International isn't the only "DI" John's
involved in. He's also been a part of "Destination
Imagination," an international problem-solving and
creativity-development project. Translation: we don't just
keep John around for looks --he's pretty doggone smart, too!
He tells
us that each day, when he gets home, he gives a kiss to his
best friend Charlie. This had us slightly worried, until he
explained that Charlie is his TV. Then we were VERY
worried.
Here's
something unique that most people probably don't know about
John: he can actually bench-press four times his body weight!
(That's gotta be close to 100 pounds! No, just kidding,
its impressive!) Actually, there's probably a lot of stuff
people don't know about John, because he tends not to draw
a lot of attention to himself... he's really a very modest
guy, and doesn't usually get himself in the "spotlight."
(Unless he happens to be in a chicken suit! See picture.)
Truth be told, somebody had to "con" him into submitting
this profile. But we think his humility is just one more reason
to put him in our spotlight.
Having
an inside source of information, we happen to know that John
is a hard-worker, has a great sense of humor, is tremendously
kind-hearted and generous, and is always there to help a friend.
He has an infectious smile, but has no trouble being serious
when the occasion demands, either. He says what he most likes
about DeMolay is the brotherhood: "There is no need to
be shy; you can talk to anyone and feel comfortable."
We're
glad he's comfortable, because his "sticking around"
has helped to make PA DeMolay a better place for all of us.
Thanks John!
