Meet Seth Anthony, age 18, of Erie Chapter.
A resident of Girard, PA, Seth is currently a Senior at General
McLane High School, where he's involved in the speech and
debate clubs and is Technology Editor for the school yearbook.
Seth joined with the PA DeMolay family back
in December 2001, at the class
in honor of Grand High Priest Ron Pennell. Some might
consider 18 a little bit of a "late-start" for DeMolay,
but Seth has wasted no time in getting "caught up."
Since joining in December, he's already served a term as Erie's
Chaplain, and was just installed Junior Councilor. He's taken
on duties as one of the Chapter's webmasters, and has been
involved in state-wide functions as well... if you were at
the C.L.U.E. Challenge,
you heard his convincing presentation against guilty Miss
Scarlet, and if you were are the Rose
Croix Class, you've seen some of his absolutely outstanding
ritualistic talent as Junior Councilor and Senior Inquisitor
in the Induction Ceremonies. We'd like to take credit for
his speaking talent, but he obviously brought it with him!
Outside of DeMolay, Seth keeps plenty busy.
He's active in the American Kennel Club and the Erie Kennel
Club (his family shows their dogs). He's a volunteer at the
Erie Zoo. He's a fan of Sci-Fi, especially the Star Wars series
and Babylon 5. His musical interests range all the way from
Smash Mouth to Celtic Folk music. He's proud of his Scottish
heritage, and takes all opportunities to be involved in Scottish
cultural events.

Key life rule: never
make fun of a man in a kilt when he's also got a Claymore
(a Scottish broadsword). |
Seth sought out DeMolay because of an interest
in the Masonic Fraternity in general, and the history and
philosophy of the fraternity. He's hoping to petition a Masonic
Lodge some day as well. Meanwhile, he's enjoying the ritual
and ceremony of the DeMolay tradition, as well as the fun,
comradeship, and opportunity for learning and development.
[Editor's Note: since this spotlight
was originally posted, Seth has in fact petitioned a local
Masonic Lodge, and received all three Masonic Degrees.]
In addition to his leadership goals in Erie
Chapter, Seth plans to pursue a college education in psychology,
with a minor in philosophy and religious studies. He hopes
to continue his involvement with PA DeMolay along the way,
and looks forward some day to being an Advisor and active
part of the larger Masonic family.
Seth tells us, "I always try to
look for new and interesting views, and whenever possible,
do my best to do things by the book!" If his
"by the book" Ritual performances and quick rise
in DeMolay are any indication, he's going to go a long way
in the book!
We're glad you came along, Seth. Enjoy the
Spotlight!
