Move to Take up a Tabled Matter

When a motion has been tabled without setting a time to reconsider it, the body must act to take it from the table in order to consider it again. If the motion to take from the table passes, the consideration of the previous motion picks up exactly where it left off. If the motion to take from the table fails, the matter remains tabled, and would require a future successful motion to take it from the table and consider it again. If the discussion on the original motion was postponed to a specific time, rather than tabled, no motion to recall it for discussion is required. It comes back into consideration automatically at the time specified in the Motion to Postpone.

Here's how it works:

What to say: "I move to take from the table ..." or "I move to take up the previously tabled motion to ..."
May you interrupt the speaker? No, you must wait to be recognized.
Do you need a second? Yes.
Can the motion be debated? No.
Can the motion be amended? No.
What vote is needed to pass? Simple majority.
Can it be reconsidered? No.
How about an example?
MEM1: "Mr. Chairman, I think it would be a good time to consider our attendance policy again. I move to take up the motion we made on the policy and tabled at our last meeting."
PRES: "There is a motion to take a motion from the table. Is there a second?"
MEM2: "Second."
PRES: "The motion has been made and seconded. All in favor?"
MEMS: "Aye!"
PRES: "Opposed?"
[Silence]
PRES: "The 'Ayes' have it. Brother Secretary, please read the motion as it stood at the time we tabled it.
[Done]
PRES: "The motion was properly made and seconded prior to being tabled. Is there any discussion? ..."
